Crickets: slowing down to hear our inner voice

Updated: Apr 4

Red poppies bloom on a hillside under a clear blue sky at sunset. The warm light and green grass create a peaceful, scenic atmosphere.

When we slow down and experience silence, the senses become more discerning. There is a breeze on our arm, a tinge in the right knee, the smell of fresh air. This is the beauty of mindfulness practice; these small moments within moments become expansive experiences. Actually, they did not become expansive, as they were already there, vast and boundless.

The moments within moments are immense and always available. When we open up to our true nature and allow the mind to be free from our constructed boxes, then we hear the crickets chirping. They were always there; we just didn’t notice, here is where we hear our inner voice.

It is in this noticing of our crickets chirping, our inner voice, that the connection to our universal being exists. This is the resting place for our inner spaces and where we live a life of awareness and joy, with all the chirping in harmony and peace.

Cheers!
