Equinox: Spring Forward to a New Beginning

A Nesting Place Between Sun and Moon

Imagine a moment, not quite day, not yet night. A space suspended in perfect poise, where time softens and the breath seems to hold itself in gentle reverence. This is the equinox. A rare cosmic pause button. And within it, we find something truly magical: the inner balance point, a nesting place within the fluctuations of our minds.

Just like a pendulum suspended in midair, there's a grace in this middle path. A tender rhythm between vibrant life and nourishing rest. The middle way isn’t some neutral void; it’s a living, breathing harmony.

Equal parts solar radiance and moonlit hush. And we, dear wanderers of the woods and dreamers under the stars, are invited to dwell there.

The Poetry of the Pendulum

The mind, much like a pendulum, swings wide across variant amplitudes: high and low, joy and sorrow, fire and fog. But have you ever noticed that instant, that microsecond, when the pendulum pauses mid-swing? That sweet stillness at the apex or the midpoint? That’s the space we’re talking about. The internal equinox.

In physics, this balance is where gravitational pull and tension equalize. The pendulum is neither straining upward nor falling downward; it is in equilibrium. When moved gently, this dance creates a smooth wave, almost like the brush of silk on skin or the whisper of wind through pine needles. It caresses the now.

Within us, this same state exists. An internal symmetry where thoughts soften and emotions glide like birds in thermals. In this sacred still point, we become quiet observers. Present and whole, an acrobatic balance. We are both the sun and the moon, the inhale and exhale, vibrant trail wanderers, and calm forest bathers. All in one beautiful breath.

Earth’s Elegant Pause

Our lovely planet joins in this ceremony too. The equinox, Latin for “equal night,” occurs when the sun stands directly over the equator. Day and night share the sky, neither overpowering the other. It is a moment of true equality. The Arctic and Antarctic bask in sunlight at the same time, as if enjoying a frosty melt together. It’s like Mother Earth herself has paused to bow in reverence.

The tides respond like poetic companions, rising boldly, then pulling back with grace. The earth spins like a ballerina on pointe, balanced, turning slowly in a majestic pirouette. And just like that dancer, this balanced moment cannot last forever… nor should it. Its value lies in the very fact that it is temporary.

Yet within that pause, growth is secretly unfolding. New ideas root while the forest stirs. Creativity stretches its sleepy arms and yawns. Something spectacular emerges from this pause in motion.

The Gift of Spring

And then, it happens. Spring arrives. Fresh winds wake up the mountains. Buds unfurl like sleepy eyelids. Trail paths reappear beneath melted snow, inviting us into their mossy mysteries. The equilibrium has done its job: it has reset the system. The pendulum is ready to swing again, but this time, it's swinging with purpose.

The middle path wasn’t an end; it was a beginning. It clarified our desires, renewed our motivation for a new beginning, and whispered, “Now go.”

As the proverb reminds us:

“No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.”

Let the season move you. Take a barefoot walk. Roll out your yoga mat beneath the open sky. Breathe in forest air and imagine it sweeping through the corridors of your heart. This is nature’s love letter to you: a handwritten invitation to bloom, shine, and awaken with intention.

The equinox reminds us that recalibration is sacred. We are not meant to be in constant movement or forever stillness. We are meant to sway and shift while we awaken with intention. Allow the pendulum to sway, yet allow our deepest truth to propel it into motion. Invite our actions to be rooted in balance.

Recalibrate; A New Beginning

Allow our movement to be inspired by nature’s rhythm. And when we sometimes feel lost, scattered, or pulled by unseen forces, remember that there is always a center. There is always an inner equinox. A place to pause, recalibrate, and rise again with renewed zest.

Stand tall on the forest trail. Lift your face to the sun. And with each heartbeat, remember: you are the pendulum, and the universe knows how to swing you back into harmony.

Cheers!
